Leaf Spot of Field Corn Caused by Pseudomonas Andropogonis
A leaf spot of field corn was shown to be caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas andropogonis. Leaf spot symptoms were observed over 3 years in several States. Inoculation of corn by vacuum infiltration of the bacteria was necessary to reproduce field symptoms. Plant Dis. Reptr. 62: 213-216. A bacterial leaf spot disease of different cultivars of field corn was observed in early summer of 1973, 19...
متن کاملBacterial Brown Leaf Spot of Citrus, a New Disease Caused by Burkholderia andropogonis
Burkholderia andropogonis was first described as the causal agent of stripe disease of sorghum and leaf spot of velvet bean in 1911 (20); at that time, it was classified as Pseudomonas andropogonis. Pseudomonas woodsii was also described, in the same publication, as an important pathogen of carnation. These two pathogens were reclassified to the genus Burkholderia based on DNA-rRNA hybridizatio...
متن کاملEpidemiology and Control of Strawberry Bacterial Angular Leaf Spot Disease Caused by Xanthomonas fragariae
Strawberry bacterial angular leaf spot (ALS) disease, caused by Xanthomonas fragariae has become increasingly problematic in the strawberry agro-industry. ALS causes small angular water-soaked lesions to develop on the abaxial leaf surface. Studies reported optimum temperature conditions for X. fragariae are 20°C and the pathogen suffers mortality above 32°C. However, at the nursery stage, dise...
متن کاملMeningitis caused by Pseudomonas paucimobilis.
This appears to be the first report of meningitis due to Pseudomonas paucimobilis and the first report of a clinically significant isolate of this species in the UK. Characteristics by which the species may be recognised are given, and attention is drawn to the possible confusion of Ps. paucimobilis with other yellow-pigmented pseudomonads and Flavobacterium species.
متن کاملMeningitis caused by Pseudomonas maltophilia.
A case of meningitis caused by Pseudomonas maltophilia is described, which was unusual in that it appeared to lack the predisposing factors commonly associated with this organism. Attention is drawn to the difficulties which may be encountered in the identification of Ps. maltophilia.
